... the transformed barn in the Stubai Valley ... "why is the building on pillars?"
The architectural, spatial and energy-related objectives pursued the idea of a symbiosis with the theme of physiotherapy on the one hand and an examination of the building site and its surroundings on the other. The basic idea of the barn, which stands on the meadows in front of the village, was taken up and transformed into a "modern" barn and was used by SISSIBAY as a guiding principle and consistently applied.
The natural materials (rough-sawn larch, Corten steel, concrete columns, ramp and bridge) emphasize the idea of the barn as well as the slight structural incision into the terrain. The forest floor flows underneath the building. The "windbreak bridge" acts as a deliberate entrance to the building. In order to ensure the intimacy of the client inside the building, the therapy rooms were positioned towards the forest and the window openings were placed higher than usual.
In addition to the PV system on the roof, the energy concept provides for a comfort ventilation system to ensure that customers and therapists are comfortable.
