Glungezerhütte competition

Tux Alps in Tyrol

As part of a competition, a renovation concept was developed for the Glungezer Hut, which envisages a functional, sustainable and at the same time heritage-friendly further development of the existing refuge.

The planning respects the historical substance - defining elements such as the Prachensky parlor and the already refurbished kitchen will be retained. Functional areas such as the drying room, utility room and ski room will be reorganized and clearly structured within the existing building. An additional seminar room will be added to the south-east. The entire sleeping area - with guest, staff and section rooms - will be brought together on one level in a newly constructed wing in the south-west. The tenants' apartments will be relocated to a separate part of the building next to the material ropeway.

The realization is carried out in prefabricated solid wood construction. A sustainable energy concept with a photovoltaic system, wood gasification boiler and ecological insulation ensures energy efficiency and a stable indoor climate. The existing water and wastewater infrastructure will be retained. The aim is to create a sustainable, functionally structured hut that retains its alpine character.
