Axams 2021
A couple came to me and were not satisfied with the existing design of their mini house (approx. 120m2 over three floors).
The living space was completely cut up and "downsized" the house so much that it seemed impossible to combine all the family's wishes. (Requirements: 3 bedrooms, 1 guest toilet, a large bathroom, a living room, the dining area combined with a large kitchen, a workshop, a small wellness area with a sauna and daybed, an office corner, as well as sufficient storage space and a garage).
The biggest challenge in this project was designing the access and circulation. It needed to be planned to preserve as much usable space as possible.
Creating a solution of simplicity and openness, as well as transparency and lightness, was the only way to connect the individual floors and create a complete living space for the family.
The staircase, which originally wasted a lot of space, was completely reimagined and became the highlight of the new house as a transparent room divider. Airy and light, it divides and connects the building. It creates interesting visual relationships in the horizontal and vertical planes and connects all living areas of the house.
Wall surfaces open up and become functional furniture, a kitchen, a library, a fireplace, and much more ... The furniture communicates through a timeless, simple and stylish material concept, which is emphasized by the industrial floor, which changes slightly from floor to floor in gently different shades, and the different uses.
The terrace on floor 02 has a spacious barbecue area as well as space for a family jacuzzi. In addition, a wrap-around balcony was added on the top floor, giving all sleeping areas the opportunity to go outside.
